Uttarakhand Schools To Remain Closed Till January 15 Due To Intensive Cold Wave

In the wake of the extensive cold wave across North India, the Directorate General Of Higher Education, Uttarakhand, has announced the closure of all schools in Uttarakhand till January 15.

The Directorate General of Higher Education, Uttarakhand, has released a notification today, January 9, 2023, announcing the closure of all schools in the state till January 15, in the wake of intensifying cold wave. The official order comes into force immediately, and all government, government-aided, and private schools in Uttarakhand will remain shut till January 15. 

With the harsh cold wave dropping mercury levels severely across North India coupled with heavy fog, the daily chores of people in several states like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have been significantly disrupted.

To help prevent school going children from the unfavorable weather, several state and district authorities in these states have been consistently reviewing and revising the operation of schools. Recently, on similar grounds, several district authorities in Uttar Pradesh have ordered closure of schools till January 14. Similarly, winter vacation for Delhi Schools has been extended till January 15. 

Notably, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) ON January 8, 2023, issued a dense fog warning in several North Indian states. Severely dense fog is expected in the next five-seven days in Delhi, Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, and adjoining districts of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
