UPPSC PCS Prelims 2024 Postponed, Exam Likely In Mid-December

UPPSC PCS Exam Postponed: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) is yet to release the UPPSC Prelims 2024 exam dates.

UPPSC PCS Prelims 2024 Exam Postponed: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has postponed the UPPSC PCS Prelims 2024 examination. Initially scheduled for October 16, the Combined State/Senior Subordinate Services (Pvt.) Examination-2024 is now postponed and a notice regarding the same has been issued. Candidates can check the official notice on the UPPSC website at uppsc.up.gov.in.

As per the official update, the exam is now expected to take place in mid-December 2024. The exact date and schedule will be announced separately in a forthcoming release. The preliminary exam will consist of two compulsory papers, both conducted on OMR sheets. Paper I will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, and Paper II from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Each paper will carry 200 marks, with a duration of 2 hours per paper.

UPPSC PCS Prelims Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for the UPPSC PCS Prelims is outlined below:

Exam Name: Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services (General Recruitment/Physically Handicapped – Backlog/Special Recruitment) (Preliminary) Examination

Number of Papers: Two

Paper 1: General Studies I

Paper 2: General Studies II (CSAT)

Exam Duration: 2 hours per paper

Paper 1: 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM

Paper 2: 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Maximum Marks:

Each paper is of 200 marks.

Only Paper 1 will count towards merit ranking.

Paper 2 (CSAT) is a qualifying paper, requiring 33% to pass, similar to the IAS Prelims.

Number of Questions:

Paper 1: 150 questions

Paper 2: 100 questions

Type of Exam: Offline, conducted using OMR sheets (pen-paper mode)

Nature of Questions: Objective type (MCQs)

Negative Marking:

- A penalty of 0.33% of the total marks for every incorrect answer.

- For example, if a question is worth 2 marks, answering incorrectly will result in a deduction of 0.66 marks.

- Filling multiple circles on the OMR sheet for the same question will be marked as incorrect.

- There is no negative marking for unanswered questions.
