School Reopen Guidelines: List Of States Planning To Start Classes From September 21

New Delhi: As India gradually Unlocks, the Central Government had given permission for schools and colleges to reopen for a particular set of classes. ALSO READ | NEET 2020: TN Govt Urges Centre To Exempt State Students; Know 3 Recent Suicide Cases That Have Shocked Everyone After the Union Home Ministery issues guidelines for opening schools & colleges from September 21, the state governments have also started forming rules and regulations for the same. "Students of Classes 9 to 12 may be permitted to visit their schools in areas outside the Containment Zones, on a voluntary basis, for taking guidance from their teachers. This will be subject to the written consent of their parents or guardians," the MHA guidelines stated. Several state governments like Jharkhand and Haryana have started preparing to open schools following the directive, while some governments are yet to reach a consensus over the same. UP Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma has said that the Covid-19 situation in the state will be monitored until September 15 and only then the state will decide whether schools will be opened or not. At present, classes are being conducted through Doordarshan UP for Class 10 and 12, and Swayambha channel for Class 9 and 11. The timetable of the class is fixed every week. E-learning is being undertaken for Classes up to the 8th standard through WhatsApp groups or other such means. Haryana The Haryana government has planned to open the school from September 21. Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal Singh Gujjar says that the state is ready to open schools once again. A separate budget has been allocated to sanitize schools. However, the state government has earlier stated that only Class 10 and 12 students can go to school in Karnal and Sonepat districts. Jharkhand The Jharkhand government, keeping in mind the guidelines of the Home Ministry, will first allow students of classes 10 and 12 to get back to schools. The state education minister Vaidyanath Mahato says that students' education is suffering. He revealed, "We have come to know from a survey that only 27 percent of students in urban areas are able to access online class. This figure is even worse in rural areas. Here’s All You Need To Know Andra Pradesh  In Andhra Pradesh, 50 percent teaching and 50 percent non-teaching staff can be called in the school. Any student from class 9 to 12 can visit and study in school after the written permission of their parents. Delhi Delhi government has decided to keep all schools shut till September 30 due to the Coronavirus situation in the state. According to Delhi Education Directorate, all schools will be closed till September 30. Students from Class 9 to 12 class can be allowed to go to school on a voluntary basis in government schools in areas outside the containment zones. Meanwhile, online classes will continue as usual. Uttarakhand  Schools and colleges in Uttarakhand will remain closed till September 30. The state government has not yet given permission to open the school completely. Apart from these states, the Tamil Nadu government is also not in favor of opening schools. Chhattisgarh, at present, is also not thinking it either and has been emphasising on having online classes. Bihar has not reached any decision over the matter yet. Himachal Pradesh may decide in favour of reopening schools based on the MHA guidelines.
