AIIMS NExT Mock Test 2023 Cancelled, Registration Fees Refund Process Initiated

The AIIMS NExT Mock Test 2023 scheduled to be held on July 28, has been cancelled. The registration fee refund process for all registered candidates has also begun.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi has cancelled the AIIMS NExT Mock Test 2023. The premier medical institution notified the cancellation of the NExT Mock Test through an official notice on its website. Notably, the AIIMS Delhi was scheduled to conduct the NExT (National Exit Test) Mock Test 2023 for the final year MBBS students across the country on JUly 28, 2023. Besides the cancellation of the NExT Mock Test now, the AIIMS Delhi has also notified that the NExT Mock Test 2023 registration fee collected from registered students shall be refunded back, and the refund process has also begun. 

“The online Applications were invited from 28th June 2023 for Mock/ Practice National Exit Test (NExT) on behalf of the National Medical Commission (NMC) from Final Year students pursuing MBBS courses in Medical Colleges/Institutes in India. In this regard, it is hereby informed that as per communication received from NMC and the decision of the competent authority, the Mock/ Practice Test of National Exit Test (NExT) scheduled to be held on 28th July 2023 stands cancelled,” reads the official notice. 

“The refund process of registration fees of candidates who have registered and paid fees for the Mock/ Practice National Exit Test (NExT) has been initiated, and the registration fee will be refunded in due course of time in the respective account from which payment was made,” the notice adds further.

 Notably, the National Medical Council (NMC) released the NeXT Regulations 2023, calling upon AIIMS Delhi to conduct the NExT Exam in two phases: NeXT Step 1 and NeXT Step 2. Candidates who clear the NeXT Step 1 Exam will be required to undergo an internship of four years and then appear for the NeXT Step 2 Exam to obtain the licence and ascertain eligibility to practice modern medicine in India. Foreign medical graduates who wish to practice medicine in India will also have to undergo the same process. 

The NMC also announced that the NExT Exam shall be conducted for final year MBBS students across the country and serve as a licentiate examination to certify the eligibility of medical graduates to practice modern medicine in India. The NExT Exam shall also be used to determine the eligibility of final year MBBS students for admissions into higher medical programs. 

Following the announcement of the NExT Exam, the NExT Mock Test was brought in to familiarize students with the exam. The exam was scheduled to be held on July 28, 2023, and online applications for the NExT Mock Test were incited from June 29 to July 10, 2023. General and OBC category candidates were required to pay a NExT Mock Test Fee of Rs 2,000, and SC, ST, and EWS candidates were required to pay a fee of Rs 1,000, to appear in the NExT Exam. Persons with disabilities were exempted from paying any fee for appearing in the exam.
