NEET, JEE Exams 2020: Six States File Review Petition In SC Against Its Order To Hold Exams

NEET, JEE Exams 2020: With hardly a week left for JEE Main exams and a fortnight for NEET exams, students and parents across the country are demanding the government to postpone the examinations.

NEET, JEE Exams 2020 postponement bid: Six ministers of opposition ruled states have moved the Supreme Court seeking review of its order permitting Centre to conduct NEET, JEE exams this year. The move comes as a hope for lakhs of students and parents who have been demanding the postponement of the examination due to the perceived risk amid Covid-19 pandemic. The review plea has been filed by ministers from West Bengal (Moloy Ghatak), Jharkhand (Rameshwar Oraon), Rajasthan (Raghu Sharma), Chhattisgarh (Amarjeet Bhagat), Punjab (B S Sidhu) and Maharashtra (Uday Ravindra Sawant). With hardly a week left for JEE Main exams and a fortnight for NEET exams, students and parents across the country are demanding the government to postpone the examinations. Cong leaders detained while staging stir against holding of JEE, NEET Meanwhile several Congress leaders have been detained in Delhi as the party is staging a nationwide protest seeking deferment of the examinations. Delhi Congress leaders and workers, including its president Anil Kumar, were among those detained by police. Background:  SC had refused to interfere with the conduct of medical and engineering entrance exams, on Aug 17. The exams are scheduled to take place in September and the SC has stated that life must go on and students can't lose a precious year due to the pandemic. The apex court had dismissed a plea by one Sayantan Biswas seeking direction to National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts both the NEET and JEE exams, to postpone them and said that there was absolutely" no merit in the plea. Despite the order of the SC, the demands of students have continued.
