Karnataka To Reopen Schools For Classes 9 To 12 From August 23 - Check Important Guidelines

Schools in the state of Karnataka would re-open only in districts where COVID positivity rate is less than 2%. The state govt has also issued guidelines for opening schools.

New Delhi: The Karnataka government has decided to re-open schools for students from Classes 9th to 12th, but schools would reopen only in districts where the COVID-19 positivity rate is less than 2 per cent. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai took the decision in a meeting with experts on Saturday.

The Chief Minister said that all teachers, staff and parents of the school would be able to enter school premises only if they are fully vaccinated.

According to a previous statement made by the Karnataka CM, schools would be operated in physical mode from August 23. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has issued these guidelines to re-open schools.

Covid Guidelines For Re-Opening Of Schools

  • Schools would be re-opened only in districts where the COVID-19 positivity rate is less than 2 per cent. If the positivity rate increases after the schools reopen, the schools will be closed for a week immediately. The Positivity Rate Test (TPR) would be regularly monitored.
  • Students participating in physical classes are required to wear masks, follow social distancing guidelines and bring food and hand-sanitizers from home.
  • It is mandatory for all staff working in the school along with the parents visiting the school, to be vaccinated and comply with COVID-19 guidelines. Non-vaccinated personnel would not be allowed to enter the school premises.
  • The state would implement a district-wide COVID-19 management system and will continue to change guidelines according to the status of COVID-19 cases in the district.
  • CM has also announced a meeting with health experts and is working towards speeding up the vaccination and testing processes in the state.
