JEE Main 2026 Exam Dates & Centres Revised: NTA Explains Key Changes Ahead of Session 2

JEE Main 2026 Session 2 begins with revised exam dates and centres. Check updated schedule, reasons for changes and official updates here.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has begun conducting the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 Session 2 from April 2 across centres in India and abroad. Ahead of the exams, the agency introduced multiple changes to exam dates and test centres, prompting candidates to recheck their schedules carefully.

These revisions come in response to several concerns raised by aspirants, including global developments, festival clashes, and overlapping board exams. Candidates appearing for JEE Main 2026 are advised to verify their updated exam city slips and admit cards to avoid any confusion.

Why NTA Changed JEE Main 2026 Exam Centres and Schedule

The NTA implemented these adjustments after reviewing multiple requests and logistical challenges. One of the major reasons cited was the ongoing West Asia situation. Due to tensions between Iran and Israel-US, several candidates requested safer exam locations, which led the agency to reassign centres accordingly.

Additionally, some candidates flagged a clash with Easter celebrations. Since April 5 coincided with the festival, the agency accepted requests for rescheduling and made necessary changes to ensure convenience.

JEE Main 2026 & CBSE Clash: How the Issue Was Addressed

Another crucial factor was the overlap with CBSE Class 12 board examinations. Many students appearing for JEE Main are also enrolled in CBSE schools. To address this, the NTA worked closely with the board to align schedules.

"An input field was added in the JEE (Main) 2026 Session 1 & 2 application forms for such appearing candidates to fill in their CBSE registration/roll numbers. Using the schedule data of such candidates provided by CBSE, NTA planned their exam dates to avoid conflicts," the notice added.

The agency also reviewed individual requests from candidates who had other exam commitments and adjusted their test dates where possible.

Measures to Ensure Fair and Smooth Conduct

To maintain transparency and fairness, the NTA has strengthened monitoring mechanisms at exam centres. Advanced security arrangements, including CCTV cameras, jammers, and AI-based video analytics, have been put in place. A centralised command and control room will oversee the entire examination process.

JEE Main 2026 Admit Card Details

The admit cards for exams scheduled between April 5 and 8 have already been released. Candidates can access them through the official website using their application number and password.

Earlier, hall tickets for the April 2 and 4 exams were issued on March 29. Students are advised to download and print their admit cards well in advance to avoid last-minute issues.
