GATE 2021: IIT Bombay Releases Brochure, Exam Pattern Changed, Registration Starts From Sept 14th

GATE 2021: The IIT Bombay has announced the GATE 2021 registration date. GATE 2021 information brochure has also been released. As per the official information brochure, GATE 2021 registration will start on September 14 and end on September 30. Various changes in the new brochure of the GATE 2021 exam pattern have been observed, such as- addition and removal of some exam cities. Earlier, changes regarding the eligibility criteria relaxation and addition of exam papers of GATE 2021 have been announced. According to the brochure, the GATE 2021 computer-based examination will be conducted from February 5 to 14, 2021, at various centres spread across the country. The examination will be held in two sessions, i.e forenoon from 9 am to 12 pm and afternoon from 3 pm to 6 pm. However, these are tentative in nature and may change depending upon the COVID-`19 situation. The admit card for the GATE 2021 examination will be available to download from January 8, 2020.

Changes in exam pattern

In GATE 2021, the aspirants will have to additionally answer Multiple Select Questions. This third type of questions has been added to the pattern where previously only Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Answer Type Questions (NATs) existed. The division of marks will be as follows: Subject Questions - 72 Marks General Aptitude - 15 Marks Engineering Mathematics - 13 Marks A few exam cities have been added for GATE 2021- Jhansi (IIT Kanpur), Dhenkanal (IIT Kharagpur), Chandrapur (IIT Bombay) and Muzzaffarnagar (IIT Roorkee). Whereas, Pala (IIT Madras) has been removed from the list. There is a total of 195 Indian exam cities and 5 abroad. GATE 2021 will be conducted for 27 Subjects (also referred to as “papers”). GATE 2021 examination will be conducted over six days and twelve sessions on Friday 5th, Saturday 6th, Sunday 7th, Friday 12th, Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th of February 2021. The results of the GATE 2021 examination is scheduled to be declared on March 22, 2021. This year two new subject papers are introduced. ES (Environmental Science and Engineering) and XH (Humanities and Social Sciences) in Economics / English / Linguistics / Philosophy / Psychology / Sociology.
