Delhi Schools To Have Six Days Winter Vacation. Check Dates

Delhi schools will be observing a winter vacation of just six days this year, beginning on January 1, 2024, and ending on January 6, 2024.

In the latest development, Delhi Schools will observe a winter vacation of just six days. The winter vacation for all schools in Delhi has been announced from January 1 to January 6, 2024. Notably, the minimisation of the winter vacation span for Delhi schools comes following a bid to adjust gaps in school education and ensure timely completion of school syllabus, following the closure of Delhi schools earlier last month due to severe pollution.

As per the previous schedule though, the winter vacation in Delhi schools was scheduled to be observed from January 1 to January 15, 2024. However, earlier last month, schools in Delhi were closed from November 9 to 18, due to severe pollution in Delhi-NCR. The closure of schools in November was termed as ‘early winter break,’ and it was said that the early winter break due to pollution shall be adjusted in the scheduled winter break in January 2024.

Delhi Government’s Directorate of Education issued a circular today announcing the winter vacation for Delhi schools from January 1 to 6, 2024. “The Winter Vacation for the Academic Session 2023-24 was earlier scheduled to be observed from 01.01.2024 (Monday) to 15.01.2024 (Monday). However, in order to ensure that our students are not adversely affected due to the poor air quality in Delhi, a portion of Winter Vacation was observed from 09.11.2023 to 18.11.2023,” reads the official circular.
