Delhi CM Kejriwal Inaugurates School Of Eminence In Punjab's Ludhiana

The new school of eminence has come up in Punjab’s Ludhiana, which also features a swimming pool on its campus.

Delhi Chief Minister and national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) inaugurated a new School of Eminence in Punjab's Ludhiana today, March 4, 2024. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was also present at the inauguration event. The first School of Eminence in Punjab has come up in sector-32, Chandigarh road (Indrapuri), Ludhiana. The school boasts modern infrastructure with advanced facilities including a swimming pool. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Arvind Kejriwal underlined the commitment of the AAP government to enhance the education system of Punjab as well as Delhi.

"When our government came into power in Delhi, the situation of schools was very bad. We went to a government school and said to all students that you all are the future of the nation, a student replied saying we are not the future of this country, private school students are... After three years we went to the same school and met the same student, but his reply was totally different. He said to me with full confidence that government school students are also the future of this country. Without any hesitation, I can say that our governments in Delhi and Punjab provide the best education system,” Arwind Kejriwal was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Notably, earlier in December 2023, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains was reported as saying in the state assembly in response to Congress MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring’s question on Schools of Eminence, that the state government has proposed to convert 117 government senior secondary schools into Schools of Eminence. "Government Senior Secondary School Chheharta, Amritsar, has been converted into a School of Eminence from March 2022," Bains was quoted as saying by PTI.

Concerning the abundance of land with the concerned schools poised to be developed as ‘School of Eminence,’ the state government hasn’t acquired new pieces of land for the development. Bains said that the new blocks of schools are being built on the excessive land available with 60 such schools. He also added that Rs 204.80 crore was earmarked in the 2023-24 budget for the development of these schools.
