CBSE To Roll Out New Curriculum 2026-27 For Classes 9 & 10; Check Key Changes And Rules

CBSE to introduce new curriculum for Classes 9 and 10 from 2026–27. Check key changes, NCF 2023 updates and school guidelines here.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to introduce a revised curriculum for Classes 9 and 10 for the 2026–27 academic session. The updated framework will be officially presented through a webinar scheduled today, which will take place at the CBSE headquarters in Dwarka and will also be streamed online.

This move marks a significant shift in school education, as the Board aligns its structure with the recommendations of the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-2023). The changes aim to reshape learning by focusing on practical understanding and overall student development.

CBSE Curriculum 2026–27: Key Changes Explained

The new curriculum will be implemented for Class 9 from the upcoming academic session. It reflects the broader vision outlined in NCF-2023, with an emphasis on competency-based education, experiential learning, flexibility, and holistic growth.

To ensure that educators and stakeholders clearly understand the updates, CBSE has organised a detailed webinar explaining the revised scheme of studies under Secondary Part One 2026–27.

Schools Asked to Share Curriculum With Students and Teachers

In its official communication, the Board has instructed all affiliated schools to download the complete curriculum documents for Classes 9 and 10. Schools are required to distribute these materials among teachers and students for immediate use.

Institutions have also been advised to make necessary arrangements to smoothly implement the revised guidelines in classrooms from the start of the academic session.

CBSE Urges Awareness Through PTMs

“Heads of Institutions have been urged to sensitise teachers and conduct special Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) to inform parents and students about the key features of the curriculum changes, ensuring effective implementation from the start of the Academic Session 2026–27,” read the notice.

This step is aimed at ensuring that both parents and students are well-informed about the upcoming changes and can adapt accordingly.

Strict Rules on Class 10 LOC Fee Collection

Alongside the curriculum update, CBSE has also issued directions regarding the submission of the List of Candidates (LOC) for the Class 10 second board examination.

The Board has clarified that schools can only collect the prescribed examination fee during the LOC process. It has strictly prohibited linking any additional charges, including tuition fees, with the submission.

According to the notice, reports were received about some schools demanding advance tuition fees at the time of LOC submission. CBSE has termed this practice a violation of its rules and warned that any unauthorised fee collection will be taken seriously.
