14 Schools In Noida Asked To Shut Operations Over Law Violation

As per the district inspector of schools (DIOS), Gautam Buddha Nagar, these schools were running without any official recognition.

As many as 14 schools in the Gautam Buddha Nagar district have been asked to shut down operations with immediate effect. The move from the Gautam Buddha Nagar district administration comes after the schools were allegedly found to be functioning without any official recognition. Most of the schools in the list operate classes till 12th and are located in villages of Noida, as per district inspector of schools (DIOS) Dharmveer Singh. 

The official further said that the Uttar Pradesh government conducted a survey recently to identify if institutes in the state were operating in violation of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009. He further said that for every entity engaged in imparting formal education, it is mandatory to be recognised by state authorities.

"During the survey in the district, 14 such schools were found to be in violation of the law and today, an order has been issued for them to shut operations with immediate effect. They were found running classes illegally and without any recognition from authorities," Dharamveer Singh was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. "There have been serious lapses on the part of one school and I have issued directions to my department to ensure that an FIR is lodged against it by the police and legal action taken against it," he was further reported as saying. 

The official also warned of strict action against those educational institutions running in violation of the laws. Among the 14 Noida schools asked to shut operations, seven schools are situated in Harola, four in Jalpura, and one each in Shahdara, Mangrauli and Chhijarsi, as per the department. On average, these schools have a size of 150 students. As per the officials, there are over 2,000 schools functioning in Noida and Greater Noida in the gautam Buddha Nagar, including those affiliated to the CBSE, ICSE and Uttar Pradesh Boards.
