Unhappy With 'Behaviour', Man Kills Wife He Bought For Rs 70000, Dumps Body In Delhi's Fatehpur Beri

The prime accused, Dharamveer along with his two brothers Arun and Satyavan, who helped him in committing the murder, have been arrested.

A man allegedly strangled his wife to death as he was unhappy with her ‘behaviour’. The man reportedly ‘bought’ the woman for Rs 70,000, and married her. According to the police, the man, after allegedly strangling his wife, dumped her body in a forest area in southwest Delhi's Fatehpur Beri. The prime accused, Dharamveer along with his two brothers Arun and Satyavan, who helped him in committing the murder, have been arrested. A PCR call was received on Saturday regarding a woman's body that was found in a forest near the Jheel Khurd border in Fatehpur Beri. Police rushed to the spot right after the call and took possession of the body, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Chandan Chowdhary, news agency PTI reported.

After taking the body into custody, the Police launched an investigation into the matter. With the help of technical and manual surveillance, the police tracked the movement of an autorickshaw at around 1:40 am on Saturday which looked suspicious, reported PTI.

Through the surveillance cameras, the route of the autorickshaw was tracked and its registration number was identified. The driver of the autorickshaw was identified as Arun, a resident of Chhattarpur. The DCP said that Arun was apprehended near Gadaipur Band road.

Arun identified the deceased as Sweety, Dharamveer's wife. He confessed that he along with his brother-in-laws Dharamveer and Satyavan, both residents of Nangloi, strangled Sweety to death near the Haryana border. They then threw the body into the forest, added the police official.

He also told police that he was aware of the topography of the area and the accused chose the said forest area for committing the crime and the disposal of body.

The DCP, while talking to PTI said that Arun told him Dharamveer was unhappy with his wife's behaviour as she would often elope from her house for months without giving any prior information. Arun told the police that nobody knows about the parents or the family background of Sweety as Dharamveer had married her by paying Rs 70,000 to a woman.

The police official said that according to the accused, Sweety never talked about her parents or family members. The only information that she gave out was that she hailed from Patna in Bihar.

A case has been lodged under sections 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence or giving false information to screen offender) and 34 (common intention) of the India Penal Code at Fatehpur Beri police station in connection with the murder of the woman, reported PTI.

DCP Chowdhary said that they have seized the auto-rickshaw which was used in the commission of the crime and further investigation into the case is in progress.

Based on the findings during the preliminary probe, the accused took the woman along with his brothers on the pretext of dropping her at a railway station.

The DCP told PTI that it is suspected that the husband gave money to an acquaintance of his wife. He added that the place where the woman used to go after leaving her husband's house was not known yet. These facts are being verified, PTI reported while citing the police official.
