Rucks, Sloganeering In MCD House As AAP, BJP Councillors Clash Over Yamuna Flooding — WATCH

MCD Ruckus: As councilors clashed with each other over the issue of River Yamuna flooding, Mayor Shelly Oberoi adjourned the House for 15 minutes.

Ruckus and sloganeering were witnessed in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) house as councilors clashed with each other over the issue of River Yamuna flooding in the national capital. Unable to restore order amid the proceedings, Mayor Shelly Oberoi adjourned the House for 15 minutes. The members of the BJP reportedly protested against the motion brought by the Aam Aadmi Party regarding the violence in Manipur.

In another video, BJP councilors can be seen carrying placards terming Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as a "liar".

The BJP leaders in the house raised the issue of three children drowning in the Yamuna River and presented a condolence motion requesting silence for two minutes, which was accepted by the Mayor.

On Sunday, the Delhi police informed that three schoolgoing boys, who had gone to take a bath in the Yamuna River in north Delhi's Alipur area, are feared to have drowned.

At 1.45 am, police received a call at Alipur police station that the five kids had gone to Yamuna River. Out of them, only two returned and three have drowned in the river near shank number-4, news agency PTI reported an officer as saying while the search for them was underway.

Last week, the Yamuna River in Delhi flowed below the danger mark of 205.33 metres after the water level hovered above and below the danger mark for a number of days now. The water level hit an all-time high of 208.66 metres on July 13.

Incessant rain lashed parts of Delhi and nearby states following which water was discharged from Haryana's Hathnikund Barrage causing the water level in the Yamuna to rise above the danger mark again.

Delhi has been bettered by unprecedented waterlogging and floods this month. Initially, a downpour caused severe waterlogging at many parts on July 8 and 9. The city received 125 per cent of its monthly rainfall quota in just those two days.

More than 27,000 people had to be evacuated from their homes and the losses incurred in terms of property, business, and earnings have run into crores, as per PTI.
