'Premeditated, Will Ensure Strictest Punishment Including Death Penalty': Delhi Police On Shahbad Murder Case

Delhi police has said that the Shahbad dairy murder was a 'premeditated' one and that they will ensure the strictest punishment possible for the accused Sahil.

Delhi police has said that the Shahbad dairy murder case was 'premeditated' and that it will try to get the strictest punishment, including the death penalty, for the accused Sahil. The police on Wednesday filed a 640-page chargesheet in the case within a month. Speaking to news agency ANI on the chargesheet, Special CP (Law and Order) of Delhi police, Deependra Pathak said that police nabbed the accused last month within 24 hours of the crime and handled the case with speed and sanity. He said that the police filed a watertight chargesheet with all evidence they found including electronic proofs.

"We presented an example of an effective and professional investigation. Now the matter is before the court. The goal of the Delhi police is to get the strictest punishment including death sent for the culprit for this gruesome murder," Pathak said.

Notably, a 16-year-old minor girl was brutally stabbed to death by her boyfriend in Delhi's Shahbad Dairy area in the last week of May. The 20-year-old accused, identified as Sahil, stabbed her at least 20 times before hitting her on her head with a stone. As per police reports, Sahil and Sakshi, who were romantically involved, engaged in an argument that ultimately resulted in Sakshi's death. The perpetrator assaulted her as she was en route to celebrate her friend's son's birthday.

Meanwhile, no bystanders or residents intervened or offered assistance. The brutal assault was captured on CCTV, and the footage quickly spread across social media platforms.

Special CP said, "We will see to it that the strictest punishment possible is given to the accused to set a long-term example in society so no one can think of committing a gory crime like this."

According to Delhi Police, the accused and the deceased had a strained and troubled relationship. "It has been determined that Sahil was irritated with the minor because she was ignoring his calls and wanted to end the relationship. This infuriated him, and he threatened to kill her. He kept pressuring her to continue the relationship, but she refused," an officer said.

An initial medical examination revealed that the victim had over 34 wounds on her body, approximately 20 of which were stab wounds. According to the police, her skull was fractured when she was struck by the concrete slab.
