Meanwhile, security arrangements have been intensified in the border areas for New Year's celebrations in the national capital, PTI reported on Saturday, citing officials. The officials further stated that more than 10,000 police personnel are expected to be on the ground to rein in hooliganism and traffic violations.
"We want everyone to welcome the new year with great zeal but no one will be allowed to breach the law. "The traffic police has already chalked out a plan to combat motorcycle stunts and drink driving. Additional forces from different police stations will be deployed to help the traffic police," said the officer. "We have prepared two shifts for deployment. The first will start from 5 pm and run till midnight. The second one will be from midnight to 6 am," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey has said, as quoted by PTI.
