MCD To Conduct Survey On Street Vendors, Announces CM Kejriwal

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the MCD will conduct a survey on street vendors that will allow the government to make necessary arrangements for them.

Stressing how the Aam Aadmi Party has been taking "big decisions" to solve several issues in the national capital ever since it was elected to power, CM Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday, announced that MCD will now conduct a survey of the street vendors. This is aimed at improving the arrangements for the vendors so that they can "do their work with respect."

Kejriwal stated: "There is good news for all the street vendors of Delhi...MCD has decided that we will conduct a survey of all street vendors. Together with them, we want to make good arrangements for the street vendors and also for the people of Delhi so that the street vendors can do their work with respect."

While announcing the news, the Delhi CM stated that this initiative is being taken by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi in wake of the issues being faced by the street vendors that is making it difficult for them to earn a living.

The survey, as per CM Kejriwal, is being conducted to ascertain the number of shops, who the owners are, what are they selling and where are they operating from, based on which the necessary arrangements will be made for them.

The survey results will enable the AAP government to help the street vendors set up their shops in a way that the traffic is not disrupted and the vendors too get a dedicated place to earn their living respectfully, Kejriwal added.

This announcement came a day after PM Modi addressed the beneficiaries under the PMSVANidhi scheme and also distributed loans under it to 1 lakh street vendors, including 5000 vendors from Delhi, at JLN Stadium.

During the address, PM Modi stated that earlier the street vendors had to take loans at high interest and face insults in case they could not repay it on time.
