Watch: Manish Sisodia Arrives From Jail To Meet Ailing Wife

Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia reached home from Tihar Jail to meet his ailing wife at the Rouse Avenue Court granted him permission.

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia arrived at his previous residence with the police on Saturday from Tihar Jail to meet his ailing wife. Sisodia was granted permission by the Rouse Avenue Court to meet his wife for six hours between 10 am and 4 pm. He was arrested on March 9 in connection to the alleged Delhi Liquor policy case. On Friday, the Rouse Avenue court allowed Sisodia to meet his wife after he sought permission from the court to meet her for five days. Sisodia’s wife Seema suffers from multiple sclerosis.

The court ordered Sisodia not to talk to the media or engage in any political activity during this visit.

Sisodia was taken to AB 17 Mathura Road, which is now officially allocated to Delhi Minister Atishi, previously, it was allotted to him. The police personnel brought the former Deputy CM in a prison van at around 10 am. They will not allow any additional people to meet Sisodia during this furlough, and there is heavy deployment of police personnel even within the residence.

The deputy CM was first arrested in February, he is facing two cases, one by the CBI and the other by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for a money laundering case. In October, Supreme Court dismissed the bail petition of the AAP leader. His earlier bail applications were rejected by the High Court as well as the trial court.

In June, he was granted permission by the Delhi High Court to meet her; however, after a sudden deterioration in her condition, she was hospitalised, and he could not meet her.

After being arrested he resigned as deputy CM and minister of different departments.

Similarly, the judicial custody of AAP MP Sanjay Singh has been extended until November 24. Singh was arrested on October 4 by the ED in the Delhi liquor policy case.

According to the CBI allegations, the 2021–22 excise policy of the AAP-led Delhi government, which granted licences to liquor traders, favoured dealers who allegedly paid bribes for these licences. However, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal denied these accusations, and the policy was subsequently revoked.

Sisodia last met his wife in June this year for 7 hours, after which she penned a heartfelt note writing about her anguish at having to talk to her husband while police personnel stood outside their bedroom the entire time.
