Each Person Will Get 20L Of Purified Water With Water ATM Cards: Delhi CM Kejriwal In Mayapuri

Kejriwal was inspecting the Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants in Delhi’s Mayapuri area along with Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced that every person in Delhi will get 20 litres of purified water per day in the areas where there are inadequate drinking water facilities. He was inspecting the Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants in Delhi’s Mayapuri area along with Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj.

Every person will be provided with a card that will let them draw 20 litres of water per day from Water ATMs, the chief minister said.

While speaking to reporters, he said, "Water ATM cards are being given to each family. With this card, every member of the family will get 20 litres/day of purified water. Even the poor will get to drink RO water every day. So far 2,000 families have got this card."

The Delhi government has planned to install 500 water ATMs to provide drinking water treated using the RO process to people in slums and other such densely populated areas, Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal added that the ATMs will be installed near slums and other such densely populated areas where pipelines can not be laid.

Water drawn through tube wells will be treated at the RO plants and then distributed among people through the water ATMs, he said.
