"I felt the tremor while I was sitting on a chair. I went outside to check and other people also experienced it. Of late, these tremors have been coming at regular intervals. Only nature knows what is happening but we are in shock," says a local in Delhi.

The national capital and adjoining regions fall in sesimic zone IV, which means that it is a high-risk zone prone to earthquakes.
This is the region's second earthquake this month, increasing concerns about the frequency of such events. The tremors were felt widely across the Delhi-NCR area earlier this month and spread to portions of North India, including Uttarakhand and the Uttar Pradesh capital, Lucknow, as well as Hapur and Amroha.
In the earlier case, the vibrations were caused by two earthquakes that struck Nepal in fast succession. Around 2:25 p.m. IST, a magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck Nepal at a depth of 10 km. A stronger tremor, measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale, occurred 25 minutes later at 2:51 p.m. IST.
