Delhi Bomb Threats Continue, Museums Latest Target Of 'Hoax Emails'

Delhi Museum Bomb Threat: In the latest series of bomb threats, museums in Delhi received emails about the presence of bombs on the premises.

The Delhi Police on Tuesday received alerts about the presence of bombs in 10-15 museums. The Indian Railways Museum was on the list of threats. The Police said the bomb threats were sent to multiple museums on Tuesday via emails.

The Delhi Police launched an investigation as soon as it got the calls. However, the threats turned out to be a hoax. The cops are now trying to trace the origin of these emails.

In the recent past, similar emails were sent to Delhi's schools, hospitals, colleges, and the IGI airport. It is not yet clear if these are the works of one person or if multiple groups and entities are involved in this.

Earlier, a 13-year-old boy was detained for sending an email to Delhi's IGI airport about a bomb on an Air Canada flight to Toronto. Police said that the teenager sent the bomb threat email 'just for fun' to find out whether they could catch him. After being caught, the teenager was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.

Usha Rangnani, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, said, "On June 4 at 11.25 PM, a PCR call was received at the airport police station about a bomb threat email on flight number AC043 from Delhi to Toronto." Rangnani said that based on the information received, the Delhi airport was put on high alert and a complete emergency was declared on the premises. The DCP said, "The guidelines and protocols were properly followed as per the set standard to ensure the safety of the passengers. After a thorough search of the aircraft, it was found that the threat email was only a hoax."

In May, several schools in the Delhi-NCR had to be evacuated after bomb threat emails were sent to the respective administrations.
