Atishi Says Plot Hatched To Impose President's Rule In Delhi, BJP Dubs Claims 'Frivolous'

Days after the Delhi CM's Private Secretary's appointment was terminated, the AAP claimed that the BJP was hatching a conspiracy to topple its government in the national capital.

Alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is hatching a conspiracy to topple the Delhi government, Aam Aadmi Party leader and Cabinet Minister Atishi on Friday said that the officers of the government in the national capital have stopped attending meetings and all these are signs that the saffron party will dethrone the government-led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. She further stated that President's rule in the national government would be "illegal and unconstitutional".

Notably, the statement comes a day after the Vigilance Department sacked Arvind Kejriwal's Private Secretary Bibhav Kumar, calling his appointment "illegal and void ab initio".

"The officers of the Delhi government have stopped attending the meeting. All these things show that there is a conspiracy to topple the govt of Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi and to implement the president's rule," Atihsi said at a press conference today.

"Let me warn the BJP that imposing President's rule in Delhi will be illegal, unconstitutional and against the mandate of the people of Delhi. The people of Delhi have given a clear mandate to Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party," she added.

Calling the whole incident a "well-thought conspiracy", Atishi told ANI, "No officers are being posted in Delhi, no transfer postings within Delhi, and officers have stopped attending the meetings since the elections were announced. For the last week, the LG has been writing baseless letters to MHA and the CM's personal secretary has also been removed."

"Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested in a fake case and that too without any proof because there is a conspiracy to topple the elected govt of Delhi. When we see a few things from the past, it shows that there has been a well-thought conspiracy going on," she added further.

"This all shows the conspiracy that is going on to topple the Delhi government," Atishi alleged.

BJP Reacts To Atishi's Remarks

Reacting to the Delhi Minister's statement, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva stated that it surprised him that the "fear of President's Rule" was haunting the Aam Aadmi Party, which has 62 MLAs in the Assembly.

Pressing demand for Kejriwal's resignation from the post of chief minister, Sachdeva said, "A party with more than 60 legislators, enough majority, then why this matter is fearing them? Atishi is an expert in planting imaginary and frivolous stories. They (AAP) are afraid of the fact that more than 60 legislators might leave them; if this is the case, then it's their fear, we (BJP) have nothing to do with that".
