Massive Fire Engulfs Oil Godown In Delhi's Alipur, 34 Fire Tenders Reach Spot
A major broke out at an oil godown in Delhi, the fire is suspected to have started due to a short circuit.
A massive fire broke out in an oil godown in Delhi’s Budhpur Alipur, early Monday morning. No casualties were reported as all the people inside were able to get out on time. According to PTI, the fire is suspected to have started due to a short circuit. Thick black smoke billowed from the godown due to the burning oil.

As per the report, a call about the fire was received around 6:15 AM, thereafter, 34 fire tenders were pressed into service, a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official said. The blaze had spread across the oil and to a neighbouring building by the time the firefighting operations started.
"By the time the firefighting operation started, the blaze had spread across the oil godown and to a neighbouring building, which houses a godown of Whirlpool company," the official said.
Later, Director of Delhi Fire Services, Atul Garg told ANI that around 50 fire tenders were at the spot and because of the oil spill it was very slippery and it is very difficult.
“It is an oil fire, then oil has been filled, it is very slippery and it is difficult for people to stand steady. Around 50 fire tenders are on the job. The cause of the fire is still unknown"

Delhi Minister Atishi said that she had spoken to the District Magistrate about the incident and instructed him to find the reason behind the fire.
“I have spoken to the District Magistrate on this incident of fire in a factory in Alipur and have instructed him to find out the reasons for this incident. The fire department team is doing its work diligently. I have also instructed the district administration to conduct a survey of all the buildings functioning as factories in the area so that any deficiency anywhere does not become the cause of any major accident in future.”
