UP Man Arrested For 'Murdering, Dismembering Friend Who Attempted To Sodomise Him'

The accused was initially released after questioning and was later brought back for further interrogation on Sunday, where he reportedly confessed.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his friend over his "sodomy attempt", in Bijnor, UP. The incident occurred in the Gangoda village, under the jurisdiction of Kotwali Dehat police station.

According to a report in The Times of India, police said the victim, Mohammad Aasif, 20, was stabbed by his friend Ayan, who then dismembered his body and disposed of the parts in a sugarcane field. The victim was reported missing on July 26. Aasif’s family filed a missing person’s report on July 27.

Ayan was released after initial questioning and was brought back for further interrogation on Sunday morning, where he reportedly confessed to murdering Aasif. The accused alleged that, on July 26, after consuming alcohol, Aasif attempted to sodomise him in a sugarcane field.

In a fit of rage, Ayan killed Aasif with a knife, Bijnor SP Abhishek Jha told TOI.

Jha added that the police have found the body and murder weapon. On Sunday, Ayan was arrested. Aasif's family suspects that Ayan may have had a motive rooted in old enmity, the report noted.
