Skeletal Remains Found In Sheena Bora Murder Case Go Missing: CBI Tells Bombay Sessions Court

In the Sheena Bora murder trial, the CBI has acknowledged the disappearance of crucial skeletal remains. The proceedings have been adjourned until June 27.

In a significant development in the Sheena Bora murder case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) acknowledged before the Bombay Sessions Court that skeletal remains believed to be crucial evidence could not be produced. These skeletal fragments were supposed to be presented during the ongoing trial but have mysteriously gone missing, resulting in a delay in the proceedings.

During a recent hearing, the CBI informed the court that despite efforts, the burnt bones of Sheena Bora, which were to be examined by experts from JJ Hospital's Anatomy Department, could not be located. Consequently, the testimony scheduled based on these bones could not proceed as planned.

Due to the absence of these crucial remains, the proceedings have been adjourned until June 27. Meanwhile, Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the case, has urged the court to expedite the proceedings.

The mystery surrounding the missing evidence has further complicated the already convoluted case, which has seen multiple delays in the past.

Sheena Bora Murder Case

The Sheena Bora murder case came to light in 2015 when Indrani's former driver, Shyamvar Rai, confessed to his involvement in the crime following his arrest in an unrelated case. Sheena Bora, Indrani's daughter from a previous relationship, was allegedly strangled to death in a car in April 2012. Her body was then reportedly burnt in a forest in Raigad district.

As per the CBI, Sheena Bora was murdered by Indrani and Peter Mukerjea as the couple was unhappy with her relationship with Rahul Mukerjea, Peter's son from his previous marriage. Sheena and Rahul met when he first visited India from England in 2008.

Indrani Mukerjea, along with her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai, were arrested in connection with the murder. While Indrani was granted bail in May 2022, the other accused, including Rai, Khanna, and Peter Mukerjea, are also currently out on bail.

The has seen the examination of 89 out of 237 witnesses, according to the CBI.
