Punjab Crime: Back From Italy, NRI Husband Kills Wife After Fight Over Domestic Issue, Flees
Kapurthala News: NRI husband killed his wife in a Kapurthala village. The police are on the lookout for the accused who fled the crime scene.
Punjab News: A woman was brutally murdered in Punjab's Kapurthala Tuesday morning. The accused is her NRI husband and the incident took place on Tuesday morning in Sandhu Chatha village of Kapurthala. The husband, identified as Sukhdev Singh, reportedly strangled Harpreet Kaur using a curtain and then violently slammed her head to the ground, leaving her dead. He fled the scene after committing the crime, the police said.
Following the incident, the Sadar police arrived at the crime scene and initiated an investigation. A murder case has been registered against Sukhdev Singh based on the statement given by the victim's brother, Lakhveer Singh.
According to the police, the conflict began over a minor issue, and escalated when Singh wrapped a parna (a type of cloth) around his wife's neck and dragged her into a room. He then repeatedly struck her head against the ground, resulting in fatal injuries. The police, led by SHO Sonamdeep Kaur, are conducting raids to apprehend the accused, and they are hopeful he would be arrested soon.
Incidentally, Sukhdev Singh was in Italy and had returned home just a day before. They entered into an altercation Tuesday morning, which turned fatal as Singh killed Harpreet in rage.
Punjab Woman Murdered In London
In a separate incident, a woman from Punjab's Gurdaspur killed by her husband in London. According to information reaching here, the victim, originally from Jogi Cheema of Gurdaspur, was stabbed to death by her husband. The couple, Mahak and Sahil Sharma, got married in June 2022 and had been living in London for a year. During their time in London, Sahil reportedly began assaulting Mahak, eventually leading to her murder. The London police have arrested the accused. Meanwhile, relatives of the deceased are seeking to have her body sent to India.
