Jewellery Worth Rs 20-25 Cr Stolen From Delhi Showroom. 'Advanced Forensic Team' On Probe, Police Say

According to the shop owner, jewellery worth more than Rs 20-25 crores was taken.

A heist worth crores occurred on Tuesday at a jewellery shop in the national capital's Bhogal region, according to the Delhi police, news agency ANI reported. The theft happened in the early hours of Tuesday at Umrao Jeweller in the Bhogal neighbourhood. The authorities verified that the robbers entered the showroom's strong room through a breach in the wall. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Nizamuddin police station. Police initiated an inquiry, and efforts are being made to track down the evading criminals. The CCTV cameras installed at the dealership were checked by a squad of detectives, but the culprits have yet to be identified.

According to the shop owner, jewellery worth more than Rs 20-25 crores was taken. "We closed the shop on Sunday and when we opened it on Tuesday after an off on Monday, we saw that there was dust in the whole shop and there was a hole in the wall of the strong room... We think they (thieves) have looted everything... There was jewellery worth around Rs 20-25 crores... They entered from the terrace... Everything is damaged including CCTV... An investigation is underway...," said Sanjeev Jain, owner of the jewellery shop. 

Speaking about the burglary at a jewellery shop in Bhogal, DCP South-East Rajesh Deo stated: "It is a big incident of burglary. Investigation underway, CCTV footage accessed."

"We have called the forensic team. We are yet to open the safe, and we will get to know how much stock has been stolen only after opening the safe. We are scanning the CCTV footages as well," he further stated. 

According to the sources, at least two persons may be seen in the CCTV footage obtained by the police (the precise number of people engaged in the heist is yet unknown). The accused's identity has yet to be determined. At least five possible methods for the robbers to reach the building's top have been found by police. Police are gathering forensic evidence from all five roofs. In addition, the finger prints of the people who live in these residences have been obtained, ANI reported.
