Student Killed In Bihar's Sasaram Over Cheating During Exam, Family Blocks Road In Protest

A Class 10 student was shot dead in Bihar after a clash between two groups over cheating.

A student was shot dead and two were injured after a clash broke out between two groups of Class 10th students over cheating in the town of Sasaram in the Rohtas district of Bihar. 

Three students were shot and one of them died during treatment at the hospital.

According to a report by Hindustan, on Thursday evening, an argument broke out between the students which quickly turned violent and shots were fired. Amit Kumar, son of Manju Yadav from Shambhu Bigha village in the Dehri Mufassil police station area, and Sanjeet Kumar, son of Kamlesh Singh, sustained bullet injuries. Amit Kumar succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Irate by the incident, the victim's family and locals staged a protest on GT Road Six Lane on Friday morning. They set fire to the road and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused. The demonstration caused severe traffic congestion, leading to a long line of vehicles on the highway.

The blockade lasted for about one and a half hours following which the police arrived at the scene and assured the protesters that the accused would be brought to justice after thorough investigations.

Finally, the protesters left, which allowed traffic to move as normal.

In relation to this case, the police have arrested one of the accused, Sumit Kumar, and recovered the weapon used in the incident from a bush. Superintended (SP) Roshan Kumar stated that there are still raids underway so that the other can be nabbed as well, according to the report.

The 10th board exams began from February 17 and at expected to continue till February 25, Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB). Over 15 lakh students are appearing for the exams, with strict measures in place to ensure a malpractice-free process.
