Rain Likely To Lash Most Parts Of Country Including Mumbai, Check IMD Forecast
Mumbai and other regions of Maharashtra, including Vidarbha, Marathwada, Konkan, and Goa, are expected to experience heavy rainfall on Tuesday.
Mumbai is likely to receive heavy rain on Tuesday as the India Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert. Other regions of the state including Vidarbha, Marathwada, Central Maharashtra, Konkan, and Goa are also expected to receive "heavy" to "extremely heavy" rainfall on Tuesday.
Due to the interaction between the mid-level easterlies and the dry north-westerlies at lower levels, thunderstorms and associated heavy rainfall are expected to increase over parts of Maharashtra in the next 4-5 days, IMD said in a press release on September 22.
Widespread rainfall activity with heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy (115.6-204.4 mm) rainfall is expected over some parts of Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Konkan during the above period, it added.
As per the weather department, "extremely heavy rainfall" is likely to batter the Kokan and Goa region on Tuesday and Wednesday with IMD issuing a red warning. For Thursday, the warning has been downgraded to an orange alert with "very heavy" rainfall while skies are expected to remain clear on Friday and Saturday.
Central Maharashtra is also expected to receive "very heavy rain" on Tuesday and Wednesday with an orange alert while a yellow alert has been issued for Thursday.
An orange alert has been put in place for the Marathwada region for Tuesday while "heavy rain", activating a yellow alert, is predicted for the Vidarbha region for the next three days.
Heavy rain is expected to lash many parts of Gujarat as well.
The weather department has forecast "extremely heavy rainfall" over Coastal Karnataka, and heavy to very heavy rainfall over north interior Karnataka on Tuesday. Heavy rainfall is expected over Kerala and Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, South Interior Karnataka on Tuesday; Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe on Wednesday; Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on Tuesday and Wednesday; Rayalaseema, North Interior Karnataka on Tuesday.
