In a separate incident, a 45-year-old man was killed by his brother-in-law in Balrampur district, Uttar Pradesh, over suspicions of an illicit affair, police said on Saturday.
The victim, Lalji, originally from Gonda, had been staying with his brother-in-law, Kania, for the past four to five days. Kania is the husband of Lalji's wife’s sister, according to Circle Officer (Sadar) Shilpa Verma, PTI reported.
On Friday evening, Kania allegedly took Lalji out for drinks. After consuming alcohol, Kania slit Lalji's throat with a knife. The commotion that followed attracted passersby, who rushed Lalji to the district hospital in Balrampur. However, he was declared dead upon arrival.
