Telangana: KTR Calls Musi River Rejuvenation A 'Scam', Tells Rahul Gandhi To Visit Those 'Affected' By Project

KT Rama Rao, accompanied by local MLA Kaleru Venkatesh, visited the Lanka area in Amberpet constituency, where numerous homes are at risk of demolition under the Musi River project.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi about the public's discontent with the "bulldozer politics" of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Taking to social media platform 'X', Rama Rao asked whether the concerns of Hyderabad residents impacted by the Musi River project had reached the Congress leader, reminding him of his promise to listen to the people's call.

"Dear Rahul Gandhi, has the voice of Telangana's public against the bulldozer politics of your CM reached you?" Rama Rao asked, referencing Gandhi's earlier commitment to heed the concerns of citizens. He also invited the Congress leader to visit Hyderabad and personally meet the residents affected by the controversial Musi River beautification project.

Rama Rao, accompanied by local MLA Kaleru Venkatesh, visited the Lanka area in Amberpet constituency, where numerous homes are at risk of demolition under the Musi River project. Expressing solidarity with the affected residents, he criticised Revanth Reddy's governance, stating, "In Hyderabad, lakhs of people are living in fear, unable to sleep due to the impending demolitions. It's been 10 months since Revanth Reddy took office, and no one in Hyderabad voted for Congress, yet the people are facing his revenge."

Rama Rao further questioned the Congress' unfulfilled promises, highlighting that the six guarantees promised by Revanth Reddy during the election campaign had yet to materialize. "Before the elections, Revanth Reddy promised six guarantees. Did anyone receive it? He said to give six guarantees in 100 days. It's been 300 days now. Now he started a new thing, 'Loot in Musi, distribute in Delhi'...What will you gain by building a mall after demolishing a house here? Who is it for?... How can you be a leader if you don't stand by the people and just win votes in the name of God?"

The BRS leader assured the affected residents that his party would support them in resisting the demolitions, which are part of the government’s plan to clear the riverbed and buffer zone.
