27-Year-Old Man Beaten To Death For Overtaking In Mumbai, 9 Arrested

A 27-year-old man was beaten to death by a group of men in a road rage incident in the Malad area of Mumbai. The man, identified as Akash Maine, was with his parents when he was killed after a dispute over overtaking in Dindoshi.

The altercation took place on Monday (October 12) when a heated argument escalated into a violent altercation after the victim's vehicle overtook another, a report in India Today said.

Akash, who was out to purchase a new car on Dussehra, got into an argument with an auto-rickshaw driver after being overtaken near Malad railway station. The argument quickly turned violent, and the driver, along with several accomplices, assaulted Akash, leaving him with severe injuries.

Incident Goes Viral On Social Media

The incident was also captured on the phone and went viral on social media. The viral video shows Akash’s mother desperately trying to protect him by lying on top of him, while his father can be seen pleading with the attackers to stop.

The video also shows that despite Akash’s mother shielding him, the attackers continued to strike the exposed parts of his body. They later turned their aggression toward his father, hitting him on the head.

Police have registered a murder case against the auto-rickshaw driver and three others under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). So far, nine people have been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
