Class 3 Student Dies Of Cardiac Arrest While Playing At School In Lucknow

The family reported to police that the girl had been unwell for several years and was undergoing treatment. They declined to pursue any legal action.

A 9-year-old girl from Montfort Inter College passed away due to cardiac arrest while playing outside her classroom on Friday. The Class 3 student, Manvi Singh, felt dizzy and collapsed in the corridor, the school principal reported.

A statement issued by the school principal that after Manvi fell unconscious in the playground, she was immediately taken to nearby Fatima Hospital, PTI reported. But later, her family transferred her to Chandan Hospital, where doctors confirmed her death was due to cardiac arrest.

Family Decline Any Investigation

According to TOI, the family of the girl resides in the Vikasnagar area of Lucknow. SHO, Mahanagar, Akhilesh Mishra, stated that as per her family, the girl had been unwell for several years and was undergoing treatment. They declined to pursue any legal action.

"They informed us that the girl had been unwell for the past few years and was undergoing treatment," he said. "Given her health condition, they believe her fall was related to her illness, and therefore, no further investigation is necessary," said the SHO.

Montfort Inter College Principal, Brother Jinu Abraham, said Manvi was a bright student, and her sudden death from cardiac arrest was unfortunate. "She suffered cardiac arrest and was taken to Fatima Hospital immediately. It is an unfortunate incident," he said. This marks the second sudden death of a minor at school within the past year.

After the death of the girl, a holiday was declared in the school on Friday.

Last year, on September 20, a Class 9 student at City Montessori School's Aliganj campus, Atif Siddiqui, also died from suspected cardiac arrest after collapsing in his chemistry class. Despite immediate medical attention and being referred to KGMU’s cardiology department, he was declared dead.
