KT Rama Rao Alleges Cong-Led Telangana Govt Of Crony Capitalism: 'The Company Is Of CM's Bro-In-Law'
KT Rama Rao highlighted that this joint venture disproportionately allocated 80% of the contract value to Shodha Constructions, despite it being relatively small company with limited prior experience.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao has accused the Congress-led Telangana government of engaging in crony capitalism and corruption, particularly targeting Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's administration. He alleged that Shodha Constructions, owned by CM Revanth Reddy's brother-in-law Srujan Reddy, has been benefitting significantly from government contracts since Congress took office in December 2023. Further, he alleged that tenders worth Rs 8,888 crore were manipulated to favour family members of Telangana Chief Minister and other ministers.
KTR pointed to what he calls a pattern of “crony capitalism” that Rahul Gandhi often critiques. Referring to the AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) 2.0 scheme—a central government program aimed at developing infrastructure in urban areas—KTR claimed that tenders totaling Rs. 8,888 crore were issued in February 2024 across eight packages, of which Shodha Constructions was awarded Rs. 1,137 crore in a joint venture with AMR and Indian Hume Pipe Company (IHP). He highlighted that this joint venture disproportionately allocated 80% of the contract value to Shodha Constructions, despite it being a relatively small company with limited prior experience.

KTR said: "In 2021, this company's net profit was Rs. 3.5 crore... This company belongs to the brother-in-law of CM Revanth Reddy. The brother-in-law's name is Srujan Reddy and this company Shodha Constructions is an unknown entity as far as Telangana and Andhra are concerned... As soon as Revanth Reddy becomes CM, this company magically starts getting a lot of attention and the crony capitalism that Rahul Gandhi keeps talking about, this is a classic example of that."
