Jharkhand: PM Modi's Mega Rally In Jamshedpur Cancelled. Here's Why

Prime Minister Modi's roadshow in Jamshedpur has been cancelled due to heavy rainfall.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow in Jamshedpur, which was scheduled for Sunday (September 15), has been cancelled due to continuous rainfall in the area, said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Jharkhand unit President Babulal Marandi. PM Modi is in Jharkhand's Jamshedpur today to kick off several projects including flagging off Vande Bharat express trains.

Taking to X, Marandi posted, “Due to continuous and heavy rains in Jamshedpur, the roadshow of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the city today has been cancelled for the time being.”

Earlier today, PM Modi virtually launched various projects worth Rs 660 crore from Ranchi. These include laying the foundation stone for the Madhupur bypass line in Deoghar district and the Hazaribag town coaching depot. The Prime Minister also dedicated to the nation doubling of the Kurkura-Kanaroan line, which is a part of the Bondamunda-Ranchi single-line section and the Rourkela-Gomoh route via Ranchi, Muri and Chandrapura stations.

He also flagged off six Vande Bharat trains at the Tatanagar Junction Railway Station in the city.

Meanwhile, The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘red’ alert in parts of Jharkhand predicting extremely heavy rainfall on Sunday. IMD predicted light to moderate rainfall is likely in most places in Jharkhand, with heavy to very heavy showers at isolated places, and extremely heavy downpours over the southern part of the state between September 15 to 17.

As per the weatherman, due to rain, localised flooding of roads, waterlogging in low-lying areas, closure of underpasses - mainly in urban areas, landslides, occasional reduction in visibility due to heavy rainfall, and disruption of traffic are likely to take place in the state during the next two days. It also urged people to avoid going to waterlogged areas and check for traffic congestion before travelling.
