'Will Bury Congress Dogs If...' Shiv Sena MLA's New Threat After 'Reward For Rahul Gandhi’s Tongue'
Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad made controversial remarks, threatening to bury Congress supporters who attend his event. This comment came after he offered a reward for cutting off Rahul Gandhi's tongue.
In yet another inflammatory remark, Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad has sparked a political row by threatening to "bury" any Congress supporter who attends his event. Gaikwad, representing Buldhana, had earlier made headlines for announcing a reward of Rs 11 lakh for anyone who cuts off Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s tongue following his comments on the reservation system.
Addressing reporters on Monday, Gaikwad commented on Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's attendance at a government programme for women, titled ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana’. During his interaction, Gaikwad was heard in a video warning, "If any Congress dog tries to enter my programme, I will bury them then and there", news agency PTI reported.
The contentious remark came on the same day as the Shiv Sena MLA’s statement offering a reward to anyone who chops off Rahul Gandhi's tongue. "I have made the statement. If I have not apologised, why should the CM do so?" Gaikwad asserted when asked about his reward comment. He further defended his remarks, stating, "Of the 140 crore people in the country, 50 per cent of the population gets reservation. And I am firm on the statement I made about the person who spoke about removing reservation."
Shiv Sena Leader Booked For Remarks Against Rahul Gandhi
Following these provocative statements, the Maharashtra Police registered a case against Gaikwad on Monday night over his remarks concerning Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. FIR was registered against the Shiv Sena MLA under sections 351(2), 351(4), 192, and 351(3) of BNS at Buldana City Police Station, news agency ANI reported.
Gaikwad is no stranger to controversy. Last month, a video surfaced showing a policeman washing his car, which Gaikwad later claimed the officer had done voluntarily after becoming unwell and vomiting inside the vehicle. Additionally, in February, the MLA boasted about hunting a tiger in 1987 and wearing its tooth as a necklace. This claim led to an investigation by the forest department, which charged him under the Wildlife Protection Act.
The comments have drawn sharp criticism, with the BJP distancing itself from Gaikwad’s remarks. Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule stated, "I neither support nor endorse Gaikwad's comments". The clarification came as the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena is a part of the BJP-led Mahayuti government.
The controversy comes after Rahul Gandhi's recent remarks during his US visit, where he stated that the Congress would “think of ending reservation when India is a fair place.” He later issued a clarification stressing that his remarks were misinterpreted and that he was not against reservations.
