Haryana: Gurgaon's Ambience Mall Gets Bomb Threat, Here's What Police Say

The Gurgaon Police received a bomb threat today for Ambience Mall and other shopping complexes at various locations via email. The malls have been evacuated and are being searched.

Ambience Mall Gurgaon: The Gurgaon Police on Saturday received a threat of bombs being placed at malls in multiple locations, including at the Ambience Mall in Gurgaon. The police swung into action immediately after the threat was received by email and evacuated the Ambience Mall.

The malls are being checked by teams of the police, the dog squad, and bomb disposal squad. "The district administration received a bomb threat to all the malls in Gurugram via email around 10 AM. After receiving the email, the district administration started search operations in the malls. Police administration, dog squad, and civil defence team are engaged in the search," said Mohit Sharma, chief of civil defence team, Gurugram.

The police teams have not recovered anything suspicious from anywhere, so far. The Gurugram Police has appealed to the general public that there is no need to panic or worry about the state of security. The Gurugram Police is looking for the source of the emails received. "From the investigation so far, the email received is likely to have been a hoax merely meant to incite panic," a statement from the police read.

"Gurugram Police assures you that Gurugram Police is capable of handling and controlling any adverse situation and is always ready to serve you and ensure your security with all its resources," it said.

The Gurugram Police requested the public to inform the department about rumourmongers. "If anyone gives misleading or false information on the basis of information about bombs or posts any such information on social media or through any other medium which affects law/peace and order, the Gurugram Police will promptly take legal action against him/her," it said.

"Gurugram Police has a keen eye on social media. Hence, do not spread any wrong, misleading, and baseless or post such information in any way. If any person has any information regarding the same, immediately inform ACP (Crime) on 99999 81812, or 112 helpline, or inform the nearest police station," the statement added.
