Blood In Hyderabad Street? Red Liquid Floods Jeedimetla Street, Sparks Panic Among Residents
The Telangana Pollution Control Board (TPCB) officials inspected the area and assured the residents that action would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
Residents of Venkatadri Nagar, near Hyderabad's Jeedimetla Industrial Estate, were alarmed on Wednesday when a red, blood-like liquid began flowing from an overflowing manhole, flooding the streets and causing a foul stench. Panic spread as the liquid resembled blood, and locals experienced difficulty breathing due to its noxious smell.
Municipal authorities, responding to the residents’ concerns, identified the liquid as a red-colored chemical discharged from nearby industrial units. The Telangana Pollution Control Board (TPCB) officials inspected the area and assured the residents that action would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future, as per a report on IANS.
Venkatadri Nagar, located adjacent to the Jeedimetla Industrial Estate, has long been plagued by pollution concerns. Residents and warehouse owners alleged that some industrial units directly discharge untreated chemical waste into the drainage system, which overflowed and led to the flooding.
Health concerns over exposure to the chemical effluent have heightened among locals, who demanded immediate steps to regulate industrial waste discharge. TPCB officials assured that stringent measures would be implemented against erring units.

In a related incident, vigilant residents foiled an attempt to dump toxic industrial waste into the Musi River at Bapughat, under the jurisdiction of the Rajendranagar Police Station in Cyberabad. The driver of the truck carrying the waste fled the scene when confronted by locals, leaving the vehicle behind.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. Residents alleged that this was not an isolated occurrence, claiming that illegal dumping of industrial waste into the already polluted Musi River has been ongoing.
