Badlapur Sexual Assault Case Accused Was Being Ferried After Complaint Lodged By Wife
Akshay Shinde, accused in a sexual assault case, died in retaliatory firing by police while being taken to Taloja Central Jail.
The accused in Badlapur sexual assault case, Akshay Shinde, who died in retaliatory firing by the police on Monday was being taken to the Taloja Central jail when the incident took place.
A case of sexual assault with a minor was registered against him under which Shinde was arrested by the police. Another case was filed by his wife for which a special team was constituted, reported ANI.
The team had taken a transfer warrant from the court in connection with the case filed by his wife and when he was being brought to Taloja Central jail, he opened fire on the police with their revolver.
"A case of sexual assault with a minor was registered and accused Akshay Anna Shinde was arrested...Another case was filed against him by his wife as well. A special team was constituted for the same. The special team took a transfer warrant from the court and when the accused was being brought to Taloja Central Jail, he opened fire on the police with their revolver...The investigation is underway," said Thane Police PRO Shailesh Salvi.

According to the Thane police, the accused snatched a revolver from a cop and shot at the cop, injuring him. Other police personnel present there shot back at the accused in retaliatory firing, after which he was greviously injured.
He later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
However, Shinde's family has claimed that he died in a police encounter. His father Anna Shinde called for an inquiry into his son’s killing while his mother and uncle alleged it was a conspiracy by police and management of the Badlapur school.
The family members claimed Shinde had told his kin that he was being beaten up by police in custody and he also sent a chit seeking money.
