Assam Police Drags Bodies Of Father-Daughter On Road In Darrang, Probe Ordered — On Cam
Police informed that the father, Mathura Nath Deka, had picked up his daughter, Nandita, a first-semester student at Gauhati University, and they were headed home to Sipajhar.
A video showing Assam police dragging the bodies of two accident victims in plastic bags in the Darrang district of Assam has surfaced with heavy criticism on social media. The video captures two police officers dragging the bodies, covered in blue plastic bags, toward a vehicle for post-mortem.
Assam police faced strong condemnation on social media, with users describing the act as "insensitive" and "inhumane."

According to a report by NDTV, police confirmed that the victims—a father and his daughter—were riding a scooter when they collided with a parked truck on a national highway near the Saktola area, causing them to fall onto the road. Shortly after, another truck ran over them, resulting in their deaths.

Following this, Assam Director-General of Police GP Singh has ordered a probe into the police official's act. "Reference road accident at Sipajhar, Darrang - An enquiry has been ordered to ascertain circumstances of the said incident," the DGP wrote in a post on X.

After the video came to light on social media, online users came up with mixed responses in the comment section. One of the social media users said, "Need HRD training for Assam Police I hope Mr GP Singh will take the decision. Humble request to Mr GP Singh Sir please take the appropriate decision against senior officers those are present there for un human act."
The next said, "PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT THEY WERE POOR, NOT RELATED TO ANY POLITICAL LEADER PERSON DEFINITELY."
Another said, "This is inhuman. Sad to see this…Humanity taught is Schools… we need basis education."
