Andhra Pradesh: 21-Year-Old Woman Dies After Fall From Swing Ride In Vijayapura

In the fall, the victim suffered severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.

A 21-year-old woman died after falling from a ranger swing ride at an exhibition ground in Vijayapura, Karnataka. The incident took place on Sunday evening around 7 PM when the woman, identified as Nikitha Biradar, was visiting the exhibition with her mother and friends.

The incident took place in Ingaleshwar village while she was riding ranger swing ride at Fish Tunnerl Expo on Navbag Road. According to the police, Nikitha took a ride. However, while the ride was on, she fell from the ride after the safety bar malfunctioned. The safety belt she was wearing aslo broke, as reported by PTI.

In the fall, she suffered severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. However, she was declared dead upon arrival. The police have registered a case under Section 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the event manager and the ride operator.

Nikitha's father, Aravind Biradar, expressed his grief and called for accountability from those responsible. The police are investigating whether safety protocols were followed and if the ride had been adequately maintained.

The incident echoes similar tragic accidents in recent years. In 2019, an eight-year-old boy named Pranav in Chennai lost his life after falling from a carousel ride due to his clothes getting caught. He too suffered fatal head injuries. More recently, on October 8, an 18-year-old engineering student at NMIMS University in Kharghar died in a road accident. The student’s car overturned while the group was attempting to avoid a pothole, resulting in minor injuries to one classmate while four others escaped unharmed.

These accidents highlight the critical need for stringent safety measures and regular inspections of amusement rides and road infrastructure to prevent such fatalities.
