Swiggy To Use Drones For Grocery Delivery In Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Ties Up With Garuda Aerospace
Swiggy has tied up with Chennai-based Garuda Aerospace, which focuses on design, building and customisation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) or drones for various applications
New Delhi: With technology taking the driver's seat in several fields, Swiggy joins the bandwagon as the online food and groceries delivery firm to bank on drones for delivering groceries to its customer's doorsteps.
Swiggy has tied up with Chennai-based Garuda Aerospace, which focuses on design, building and customisation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) or drones for various applications. To pilot the functioning, Swiggy will first fly groceries in Bengaluru and has also planned to deliver groceries in New Delhi-NCR.
The drones will be used to carry the groceries from the inventory between seller-run dark stores and common customer points.

In a tweet, Agnishwar Jayaprakash, the founder of Garuda Aerospace said, "The partnership between Swiggy and Garuda Aerospace signals a dawn of a new era in drone deliveries."
According to a Mint report, With cities getting more crowded, startups like Swiggy have understood how Advanced Garuda Aerospace drones can play a role in urban mobility and logistics via air to cut down-time of deliveries, he said.
