Shark Tank India: Namita Thapar 'Regrets' Not Investing In Jugaadu Kamlesh And Agri-Tourism's Pitches

Shark Tank India judge Namita Thapar said not investing in Kamlesh and Pandurang remains her "biggest regrets."

New Delhi: In the latest post, Shark Tank India judge Namita Thapar, who is executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals Namita revealed her ‘biggest regrets’ about not backing certain business ideas.

The pharma company leader evaluated as many as 170 pitches on the show and made investments to the tune of Rs10 crore in 25 businesses.

“I saw around 170 pitches and invested Rs 10 crore in 25 companies that touched my heart. I invested Rs 7 crore during the show and Rs 3 crore post the show in deals I had lost out on and in a few existing deals to increase my stake,” Thapar wrote in an article for YourStory.

Although she made a hefty investment in the business ideas on the show, Namita shared the importance of showing ‘vulnerability’ as a business leader.

Throwing light on missed opportunities the business leader shared the regret of not investing in ventures in the show.

“As future leaders, we need to champion not just founders who can scale and make money for us but also those who have tremendous potential, are working on a real problem but don’t have the right mentorship to gain traction in their business. Jugaadu Kamlesh and Pandurang of Agri-Tourism were both Maharashtrian farmers out to solve real problems but due to lack of right guidance hadn’t made sales,” wrote Namita.

She stressed on qualities of leaders saying that leaders need to be bold, back such founders, and ensure they become a success so that entrepreneurship doesn’t just become the dream of the ones with the right education and resources but even of the common man.

“This is one of our core responsibilities as business leaders who have been blessed with power and privilege, who people look up to... and not investing in Kamlesh and Pandurang remain my biggest regrets at Shark Tank India,” she said in her post for publication YourStory.

On Shark Tank India, budding entrepreneurs pitched their business ideas to a panel of tycoons aka sharks, who offered their investment and expertise in exchange for equity. The show has given chance to entrepreneurs to pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges, who approve their proposals for investment.

The seven judges on Shark Tank India are Ashneer Grover of BharatPe, Namita Thapar of Emcure Pharma, Anupam Mittal of Shaadi.com, Vineeta Singh of Sugar Cosmetics, Ghazal Alagh of Mamaearth, Peyush Bansal of Lenskart, and Aman Gupta of Boat.
