'A Great Son Of India': Nita Ambani Pays Homage To Ratan Tata

The address concluded with a minute of silence, observed by the Ambani family, Reliance leadership, and the thousands of employees in attendance

Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani offered a heartfelt tribute to the late Ratan Tata on Tuesday, remembering him as a "dear friend" of her father-in-law, Dhirubhai Ambani, and her husband, Mukesh Ambani.

In her speech, Nita Ambani expressed profound sorrow at Ratan Tata's passing: “Four days ago, we lost a great son of India. The passing of Ratan Tata filled us all with immense grief. He was a dear friend of my father-in-law, of Mukesh and our family. He was also a mentor to Akash. He was a visionary industrialist and philanthropist who always strove for society’s greater good,” she said during Reliance Industries' annual Diwali dinner.

She described Ratan Tata as a “visionary industrialist and philanthropist who always strove for society’s greater good.”

The address concluded with a minute of silence, observed by the Ambani family, Reliance leadership, and the thousands of employees in attendance.

Meanwhile, on October 9, Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, shared his sorrow over losing his "dear friend" Ratan Tata in an emotional statement on X.

“It is a very sad day for India and India Inc. Ratan Tata's passing away is a big loss, not just to the Tata Group but to every Indian. Each of my numerous interactions with him left me inspired and energised and enhanced my respect for the nobility of his character and the fine human values he embodied,” he said.

He added: “With the demise of Ratan Tata, India has lost one of her most illustrious and kind-hearted sons. Tata took India to the world and brought the best of the world to Bharat. He institutionalised the House of Tata and made it an international enterprise, growing the Tata Group over 70 times since the time he took over as Chairman in 1991.”

One of the most loved industrialists, Ratan Tata, took his last breath on October 9 at the age of 86 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
