Aadhaar card update: Aadhaar holders whose cards were issued more than 10 years ago and have not been updated since will need to provide proof of identity and address for revalidation. The deadline for updating these details is set for September 14, 2024. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has said that those who miss the deadline will be charged a Rs 50 fee for any updates made after the cut-off date. 

Aadhaar authentication involves submitting the Aadhaar number along with demographic or biometric details to UIDAI’s Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR) for verification. UIDAI then checks and confirms the details based on the data stored in their system.

Steps to Update Aadhaar Online

Visit the Portal: Go to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in and log in using your Aadhaar number and OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

Review Details: Check your profile for accuracy in your identity and address details.

Verify Information: If everything is correct, select "I verify that the above details are correct."

Select Documents: Choose the identity and address proof documents from the provided list.

Upload Files: Upload the selected documents in JPEG, PNG, or PDF format, ensuring the file size is under 2 MB.

Submit for Update: Review your information and submit the request.

What If You Miss the Deadline?

After September 14, individuals will need to pay a fee of Rs 50 to update Aadhaar details. The current window offers the opportunity to make changes free of cost, so it’s advisable to act before the deadline.

Unique IDs for farmers

In an another development, the government is set to launch a nationwide registration of farmers to issue them unique IDs similar to Aadhaar, Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi announced on Monday.

At the Outlook Agri-Tech Summit and Swaraj Awards, Chaturvedi revealed that guidelines for the registration process will be released soon, with implementation slated for the first week of October.

"Our goal is to register five crore farmers by March next year," he said, adding that the initiative is a key component of the recently approved Rs 2,817-crore Digital Agriculture Mission.
