LPG Prices: Govt Hikes Commercial Cylinder Rates By Rs 21, Slashes Jet Fuel Charges

As per the revision, the price for the 19-kg LPG cylinder increased to Rs 1,796.50 per cylinder from Rs 1,775.50 per cylinder in New Delhi. These changes will be applicable from December 1, 2023.

The ATF prices were slashed by 4.6 per cent, effectively reducing the price from Rs 1,11,344.92 per kilolitre in New Delhi, to Rs 1,06,155.67 per kl.

Government-owned fuel retailers increased the prices of commercial LPG by Rs 21 per cylinder throughout the country on Friday. The new prices will only be applicable for the 19-kg cylinder used for commercial purposes by hotels, restaurants, and other establishments. 

As per the revision, the price for the 19-kg LPG cylinder increased to Rs 1,796.50 per cylinder from Rs 1,775.50 per cylinder in New Delhi, reported PTI. These changes will be applicable from December 1, 2023.  After the revision, the commerical LPG cylinders will now cost Rs 1,908 in Kolkata, Rs 1,749 in Mumbai, and Rs 1,968 in Chennai.

However, the cost of domestic LPG cylinders, used in household kitchens for cooking purposes, remained unchanged at Rs 903 per 14.2-kg cylinder in the capital region. The price for the domestic LPG cylinders was last modified in August, after which it cost Rs 929 in Kolkata, Rs 902.50 in Mumbai, and Rs 918.50 in Chennai. 

Notably, the price for commercial LPG cylinders was increased earlier this year in October also by Rs 209 per cylinder. This rendered the cost for the 19-kg LPG cylinder at Rs 1,731.50 per cylinder in the national capital at that time. The trend of increasing the cost of commercial LPG cylinders has been continuing since October this year, prior to which, the price of the cylinders was first reduced by Rs 100 in August and further lowered by Rs 158 in September. 

The cooking gas is typically sold in different pack sizes, depending on the usage. The 5 kg and 14.2 kg cylinders are sold for domestic use, while the 19 kg, 47.5 kg, and 425 kg jumbo cylinders are all meant for industrial and commercial consumption. 

At the same time, the Oil Marketing Companies (OMC) reduced the price of jet fuel or ATF (Aviation Turbine Fuel) for the second time in one month. The ATF prices were slashed by 4.6 per cent, effectively reducing the price from Rs 1,11,344.92 per kilolitre in New Delhi, to Rs 1,06,155.67 per kl.
