Holi 2024: What Car Colours Does India Prefer?
Blue is the most popular colour after black which has also been an evergreen choice for SUVs and luxury cars
With changing trends shaping different customer preferences, it is pretty much the same with the new car buyers in India. In terms of colours, there has been a slight shift in buyer preferences and experimentation for different shades as well. Of course, in terms of outright popularity, there are no prizes for guessing that white takes the top spot as before with a majority of new car buyers choosing white.
A lot of factors influence this decision while it is also preferred with luxury cars and SUVs too- a growing segment in India. However, it should be noted that the Indian car buyer has shifted their preference from achromatic colours like black or grey despite still holding a majority. While silver, white or grey still dominate, the chromatic colours and more experimentation have seen blue becoming a new favourite for car buyers. This is also helped by the fact that car-makers have also started offering distinctive shades including blue and red. Blue is the most popular colour after black which has also been an evergreen choice for SUVs and luxury cars.
Another new trend is the rise of special editions focussed on the colour black which many manufacturers now give post the popularity of the black colour. We have also seen green climb up in popularity charts for buyers with SUV buyers especially looking at green more. Amongst these colours, golden colours are still having the lowest share in new car colours while silver has had a drop in favour too. With these changes, blue, black, and green are now the top new colours while overall, while white remains the most preferred choice overall. Going forward, manufacturers are offering a wider palette of colours depending on the particular model and buyer profile.
