Haryana Budget 2023: CM Manohar Lal Khattar Presents Rs 1.83 Lakh Crore Budget

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who also holds the finance portfolio, on Thursday presented a Rs 1,83,950-crore budget in the Vidhan Sabha today.  The CM made several key announcements as he tabled the state budget for FY 2023-24. 

The CM said no fresh tax will be imposed in the budget for 2023-24.  He said the state is committed to the construction of the SYL canal to get the due share of water from the Ravi-Beas river system. An outlay of Rs 101 crore has been proposed in this regard, according to the news agency PTI.

He informed that the state government will notify Rs 1,000/ton to buy paddy stubble from farmers, Rs 1,500/ton for expenses related to paddy stubble management.

The state will offer Rs 2,500 to every girl taking admission to the Industrial Training Institutes with up to Rs 3 lakh annual family income. Besides, the govt will undertake recruitment for at least 65,000 regular posts in 2023-24.

The state will target 20,000 acre land for natural farming.  The CM also proposed Rs 400 crore for Haryana Gau Sewa Aayog in the state budget for 2023 -24, up from Rs 40 crore.

Paddy stubble-burning incidents dropped 48 pc in Haryana and it was appreciated at the national level, informed the CM.

Khattar also proposed to increase the social security pension from Rs 2,500/month to Rs 2,750/month in the state budget. In a boost to start-ups, the CM announced a VC fund to offer financial support to entrepreneurs who are women or come from families with annual income of up to Rs 1.80 lakh.

The state’s annual Budget session commenced on February 20 and will be held in two parts, with a recess in between. The first part of the session will be held from February 20 to 23 and the later part during March 16-21, reported news agency ANI.
