Savitri Jindal, who also served as a minister in Haryana in the Bhupinder Singh government, made into the ranks of 10 top richest women after her net worth touched $18 billion in 2021
India's wealthiest woman Savitri Jindal, the matriarch of Jindal group, witnessed her fortune rise by over $12 billion in just two years. Her net worth tripled more than three times in these last two years from $ 4.8 billion in 2020 to $17.7 billion in 2022, according to Forbes as reported by Mint news website. The surge in her wealth came after it declined by 50 per cent in 2019 and 2020. From $ 8.8 billion in 2018, her net worth dropped to $ 5.9 billion in 2019 and $ 4.8 in 2020, as per the report.
Savitri Jindal took over the reins of the family business after her husband OP Jindal’s demise in a helicopter crash. She remained the richest Indian woman for the past few years, according to Forbes. Savitri Jindal is listed as richest among Indian women followed by Kiran Mazumdar and Crishna Godrej.
She made into the ranks of 10 top richest women in 2021 after her net worth touched $18 billion that year. As of July 18, her net worth stands at $10.5 billion as per Bloomberg Billionaire index. The Jindal Group is an $18 billion conglomerate set up by her late husband, Om Prakash Jindal. While her son Sajjan Jindal runs JSW Steel, Jindal Steel & Power is managed by Naveen Jindal.
In the global billionaire list, her position jumped from 349 in 2020 to 126 in 2022, according to Forbes. She also joined active politics and served as a minister in Haryana in the Bhupinder Singh government.
Born on March 20, 1950, Savitri Jindal grew up in Assam's Tinsukia town. She got married to OP Jindal in 1970. She had once said women in Jindal family remain in charge of the house while men take care of everything outside, according to the Forbes. OP Jindal was a minister in the Haryana Government and a member of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha from Hisar constituency.
