Customer Finds Mould In Burger Ordered From Zomato, Sparks Outrage On Social Media

Sharma had placed an order for a Veg Whopper meal via Zomato and was horrified to find mould on the burger after finishing his fries

A customer in India was shocked to discover mould on a burger he had partially consumed after ordering from Burger King through Zomato. Yaman Sharma, the customer, shared his alarming experience on social media platform X, posting an image of the mould-covered burger and fries, which quickly drew widespread attention and raised concerns about food safety in the country's food delivery ecosystem.

Sharma had placed an order for a Veg Whopper meal via Zomato and was horrified to find mould on the burger after finishing his fries. Taking to social media, he tagged both Zomato and Burger King in an effort to hold them accountable. The image showed the half-eaten burger with visible mould on one side, prompting a wave of reactions from other users.

"Ordered from Burger King via Zomato. After finishing the fries, opened the burger (Veg Whopper), and today I came to know that they have launched a new flavour in which mould is coming free with the bread," Sharma wrote sarcastically in his post.

Zomato responded with an apology, stating, "This is very shocking. We are sorry you had to go through this. We will investigate it. In the meantime, a member of our team will definitely call you." The company also requested Sharma's contact details to resolve the matter.

Burger King also issued a statement, saying, "Hi Yaman, we never intend to provide such an experience. Can you please DM us your Contact Number, Store Location, Order ID, and Email ID so that we can get in touch with you? Rest assured we will investigate this thoroughly."

The post quickly went viral, attracting a mix of disgust and humor from social media users. While some expressed their horror at the state of the food, others made light of the situation. One user quipped, "Hari chutney hogi [It must be green chutney]," while another lamented, "This is nasty. Ugh so terrible!"

The incident also reignited complaints from other users about the quality of service from both Zomato and Burger King, with one user commenting, "I also had the same experience with Zomato; that's why I uninstalled their app. Their service is pathetic." As the companies continue their investigations, the incident has highlighted broader concerns about food hygiene standards in India's booming food delivery sector.
